Andy Irvine

Born in 1969, Andrew “Andy” Thomas Irvine grew up in Webster, New York. He became musically active in 1982 as a bassist in the New York scene. Andy has a tremendous love for American blues and soul music and has performed with various groups including Beanstalk, Clang, Giant People, On the One, The Jelly Roll Bakers, The Johnny O Band and his own Andy Irvine Group. As a sideman he worked with, among others, Eden Brent, Mike Zito, Jimmy Hall, Jimmy Vivino and Kate Moss. In 2009 and 2010 Andy was featured in an article in “Bass Player Magazine”. In 2013, two articles about him appeared in the British “Bass Guitar Magazine”. Andy released his first solo album "Soul Clap" in 2009, the successors "Diggin' that funky blues" and "The Way I Like It" followed in 2011 as well as 2013, then his fourth album of original music Ghost In The Grain, followed in 2018. He also published a book entitled Passion and Action - a Musician's Journey. In 2012, Andy became a "professor" at the Funk University of funk icon Bootsy Collins. After working for our company for many years as an international ambassador for Warwick basses, Andy Irvine has now discovered his love especially for the Sadowsky MetroExpress series of basses, which he regularly presents on our social channels.
