Deshna Chitturi

Deshna Chitturi is a 15-year-old bassist from Coimbatore, India, who fell in love with music at age eleven. After starting on the acoustic guitar, she found her true passion in the bass.

At just twelve, Deshna co-founded The Songs of Society with her father, a hard rock band that fuses heavy riffs with socially conscious storytelling. Writing in Telugu and Tamil, the group addresses pressing societal issues while inspiring listeners through raw and authentic narratives. To date, they have released six singles, three of which have earned placements on Spotify’s coveted editorial playlists, an impressive milestone for an independent, grassroots act.

Beyond her role in the band, Deshna has been an active session bass player since the age of twelve, recording bass lines for five of her band’s singles as well as contributing to various Gospel and Indie productions.

Her musical influences include legendary bassists such as Jaco Pastorius, Victor Wooten, Wojtek Pilichowski, Mohini Dey, Vincen Garcia and Charles Berthoud, artists who continue to shape her sound and inspire her technique.

With a deep passion for her instrument and a clear artistic vision, Deshna is committed to carving her path as a notable bassist on the global stage in the years ahead.
