Jason Newsted
Jason Newsted is nothing less than a rock legend! Born in Battle Creek, Michigan in 1963, he later moved with his family to Phoenix, Arizona. At the tender age of 14, Jason discovered the electric bass, a love that he would never let go. Jason Newsted founded his first band in Phoenix. It was initially called Dogz but was later changed to Flotsam and Jetsam.
In 1986, Jason followed in the footsteps of the late Cliff Burton (R.I.P.) and joined Metallica. He recorded an EP as well as five studio albums with these giants of metal, including the incredibly successful “Black Album”. Following an inner call to further his own creative development, Jason left Metallica in 2001 and has been working on various other projects since then. The first release of his solo project Echobrain appeared in 2002. Shortly afterwards, in 2003, Jason joined Ozzy Osbourne's legendary metal band, replacing Rob Trujillo, who had taken the role as bassist for Metallica. In 2013, Jason released his solo album “Heavy Metal Music”, which charted among the top 20 albums in several European countries.
Jason Newsted has been playing Sadowsky basses for many years, including P/J and Vintage J/J models. We couldn't be prouder to count Jason among our endorsers. Thanks for being part of the Sadowsky family, Jason!
