Tal Wilkenfeld

Tal Wilkenfeld was born in Sydney, Australia in 1986. She first discovered the guitar at the tender age of 14. At the age of 16 she decided to become a musician and dropped out of high school. She subsequently switched to the electric bass a year later. Tal then moved to Los Angeles and began building her career as a session musician. At the age of 18 she moved to New York, where she worked with musicians such as Jeff Tain Watts, the Allman Brothers Band, Leni Stern, Russell Ferrante, Susan Tedeschi, Hiram Bullock and Kenwood Dennard. She released her debut album “Transformation” in 2007, and just a year later the readers of Bass Player Magazine voted her the most notable young bassist of the year. By the age of 21, Tal was accompanying renowned stars such as Chick Corea on a tour of Australia and guitar legend Jeff Beck as he toured Europe. Countless other notable gigs were to follow, including with Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, The Roots, Incubus, Steve Lukather, Herbie Hancock, Joss Stone, Wayne Shorter, Lee Ritenour, the Wayne Krantz Trio, Jackson Browne and Ryan Adams. In 2010, she collaborated with Prince and appeared on his album “Welcome 2 America,” which was not released until July 2021. In 2019, she released her “Love Remains” album, which would debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers charts just a week later. This album features the 37 year old musician not only as the bassist, but also as the lead singer! Tal became a Sadowsky Endorser at an early age and we are extremely proud to count her as part of our ever-growing family!
